Clamp measurement
Explanation
The clamp measurement is intended for partial testing of single-
phase and three-phase loads and supports the following
measurements (
AC
):
IPE
, protective conductor current (dir., diff.) Class I
ICont
, contact current (diff.) Class II
The leakage current clamp
CM 9
is not connected to the
ST 755/ ST 760
.
The measured leakage/ fault current is entered manually in an input
window of the appliance tester.
The following measuring adapters make it easier to clamp individual
connecting cables with the
BENNING CM 9
leakage current clamp
and allow convenient measurement.

Clamp the phase
L
and the neutral conductor
N
with the
BENNING CM 9
leakage current clamp.
In order to measure the fault current of the protective conductor
without deviating leakage currents, the test sample must be
placed onto an insulated surface.
Start the IPE test at the appliance tester
(automatic test or manual test).
Follow the instructions shown on the display of the appliance
tester.

Clamp the phase
L
and the neutral conductor
N
with the
BENNING CM 9
leakage current clamp.
In order to measure the contact current without deviating leakage
currents, the test sample must be placed onto an insulated
surface.
Start the
ICont
test at the appliance tester
(automatic test or manual test).
Use the test probe to scan all accessible conductive parts and
observe the measured values of the leakage current clamp.
Follow the instructions shown on the display of the appliance
tester.
Measurement
Make sure that the test sample is free of voltage.
Connect the mains plug of the test sample to the corresponding
test adapter (single-phase or three-phase adapter).
Connect the shock-proof plug of the test adapter to the test
socket of the
BENNING
ST 755/ ST 760
.
Clamp the neutral conductor as well as the phase(s) of the lines
of the test adapter that are led through individually using the
leakage current clamp.
(Please observe the operating manual of the
BENNING CM 9
leakage
current clamp.)
Select the "
Clamp
measurement
” method.
Tap the “
Start
” button.
The test sample is supplied with mains voltage.
Read the measured value of the leakage current clamp.
Enter the read measured value into the input field on the screen
of the appliance tester.
To do this,
touch the selected text “
Please specify
” on the
screen.
Tap the “
Stop
” button to stop the test.
The “
Test result
” screen opens.
