1-11 Communicating with Anritsu Customer Service
Chapter 1 — General Information

It is expected that changes in hardware will occur over time. New options, increasing memory capacity,
increasing digital communication speed, and occasional parts obsolescence issues are common reasons for
hardware changes. It often becomes necessary to cease offering software upgrades when earlier hardware is
present in the instrument.
The firmware is under export control.
As a precaution, new versions of operating software may be installed only after a compatibility and export
control check by an Anritsu Service Engineer. Contact your Anritsu Sales Engineer or Service Center for
information on installing software upgrades.
1-11 Communicating with Anritsu Customer Service
The current locations of Anritsu Service Centers (world-wide) are posted on the USA website
http://www.anritsu.com
. To find the location listing, on the home page, click on
Service
. Locations and phone
numbers of USA Service Centers appear. Additionally, a pull-down list of world-wide service centers appears.
USA customers may also call 1-800-anritsu and select Service from the menu. To provide the service, we may
require details of your instrument as described below.
All Anritsu instruments are assigned a six or seven digit serial number which appears on the rear panel and is
also found in one or more software menus. Specially modified instruments for specific customer requirements
are often created and are identified with an “SM” number printed on a label on the rear panel.
When ordering parts or corresponding with Anritsu Customer Service, the instrument model, serial number,
options and SMxxxx number, if present, will usually be required. In rare instances, the operating software
version will be requested, and may be found within software menus.
1-12 Test Equipment List
provides a list of recommended test equipment needed for the performance verification, calibration,
and troubleshooting procedures presented in this manual. The test equipment setup is critical to making
accurate measurements. In some cases, you may substitute test equipment having the same critical
specifications as the test equipment indicated in the test equipment list (refer to
Table 1-2.
