Test Equipment List
The test equipment for the troubleshooting procedures presented in this chapter is listed in
5-3
Error Messages
During normal operation, the MG3702xA generates error messages to indicate internal malfunctions,
abnormal instrument operations, or invalid signal inputs or data entries. It also displays warning messages to
alert the operator of conditions that could result in inaccurate MG3702xA output. In addition, status messages
are displayed to remind the operator of current menu selections or settings.
System Self-Test
At power-on, the instrument performs a short self-test and reports errors that were encountered. A more
comprehensive self-test performed under the System key (Self-Test / Run Self-Test) may be used for identifying
system problems (excluding Windows-environment problems). The list of self-test errors and probable causes is
found in
. The error number will be displayed at the right of the screen, below is an
example of an error.

Troubleshooting procedures in this chapter are intended to help identify and replace a failed part or
assembly. The complex nature of this product may necessitate returning the MG3702xA to an
Anritsu Service Center for some repairs and associated adjustments (calibrations).
