1.
Select the
Measure/Graph
menu on the PN9000:
a.
Set Log. F
min
= 10 Hz
b.
Set Log. F
max
= 1 MHz
c.
Set Level max = –40 dB
d.
Set Level min = –150 dB

Select the
Status/Average
menu:
a.
Set Average = On
b.
Set 10/100Hz = 10
c.
Set 100/1kHz = 20
d.
Set 1k/10kHz = 20
e.
Set 10k/100kHz = 20
f.
Set 100k/1MHz = 20

Set
Vcontrol = 5 Volts
(in the bottom status bar) by pressing the following on the keyboard:

This sets the “VCO-100MHz” frequency tune control to the middle of its range.
4.
Select the
Calib/Input
menu:
a.
Set
Source RF
driver to Wiltron 6700.
b.
Set
Source LO
driver to Wiltron 6700.
c.
Set
Offset LO
to the value stated in
for the current test frequency.
d.
Set
RF Phase Detection
to the mode stated in
for the current test frequency.
e.
For test frequencies greater than 1.8 GHz, set
RF Phase Detection
= Transposition.
For test frequencies less than 1.8 GHz, set
RF Phase Detection
= Standard 5 dBm and
connect the LO EFC to the PN9000 Tune Voltage using a BNC tee.
5.
Select the
Calib/RF
menu:
a.
Set
Freq
= to the frequency indicated in the test record.
b.
Set
Level
= Value stated in
for the current test frequency.
c.
Set the GPIB address to the MG3702xA GPIB address.
6.
Select the
Calib/LO
menu:
a.
Set
Freq
= Frequency stated in
for the current test frequency.
b.
Set
Level
= Value stated in
for the current test frequency.
When you exit the
Calib/LO
menu, the offset is automatically added to the LO frequency
(displayed in the bottom status bar).
c.
Set the GPIB address to the LO GPIB address.
7.
Select the
Calib/VCO
menu:
a.
For test frequencies greater than 1.8 GHz, set
VCO1 = 100 MHz
on.
b.
For test frequencies less than 1.8 GHz, set
VCO1 = Off
.
Note
When measuring frequencies less than 1.8 GHz, the Tune Voltage on the PN9000 must also be
connected to the LO EFC input.
