6-5 Front Panel and RF Output Connector
This section provides instructions for removing and replacing the front panel assembly of the MG3702xA. The
front panel assembly contains the A1 front panel PCB. Refer to
Figure 6-3 during this procedure.
The front panel is an integrated unit consisting of the casting, display, keypad parts, and knob. Replace the
entire front panel assembly and the Model ID plate when any of these items have failed. The
RF Out
connector
is separate from the front panel. However, the front panel must be removed to replace this connector.
Preliminary
Remove the front handles, rear feet, and chassis covers as described in Section 6-4 .
Procedure
1. With the front handles, feet, corners and chassis covers removed, place the MG3702xA on a flat surface,
with the top side up.
2. Carefully pull the front panel away from the chassis to gain access to the ribbon cables that connect the
front panel PCB assembly to the microprocessor PCB assembly. See
Figure 6-3 .
3. Unplug the upper ribbon cable from the front panel.
4. To unplug the more delicate lower ribbon cable, use tweezers or another pointed tool to pull each small
tab up (away from the PCB).
One tab is found at both ends of the connector.
After each tab has been moved out approximately 1-2 mm, the cable will be released and can be removed.

Caution The lower ribbon cable is fragile. Use care when unplugging this cable.
