Removing the Instrument Covers
Troubleshooting procedures require removal of the top and bottom covers. Replacement of some MG3702xA
assemblies and parts require removal of all covers. The following procedure describes this process.
Tool Required
# 1 Phillips screwdriver
Preliminary
Disconnect the power cord from the instrument.
Procedure
Remove and replace the chassis covers as follows. Retain all screws for reinstallation.
1.
Using a Phillips screwdriver, remove the screws and the front handle assemblies from the instrument
(see
). For models not having front handles, remove the screws and the front top and bottom
feet from the instrument.
2.
Remove the 6 screws on the rear panel which secure the top and bottom covers (3 for the top cover, 3 for
the bottom cover).
3.
Remove the four feet and corners on the rear of the instrument.
4.
At the rear of the instrument pull the top cover upwards about 1.5 inches then pull the cover towards the
rear of the instrument while sliding the cover out along the grooves in the chassis.
5.
Turn the instrument over so that the bottom cover is on top.
6.
Remove the bottom cover the same way the top was removed.

Danger
Hazardous voltages are exposed inside the MG3702xA whenever the
power supply enclosure is open and the AC line power is connected. Turn
off the instrument and remove the line cord before removing the power
supply cover. Use extreme caution when troubleshooting with the power
supply cover removed and the unit energized.
Troubleshooting or repair procedures should only be performed by
qualified service personnel who are fully aware of the potential hazards.
Warning
The screws with green heads have metric threads. When it becomes necessary to replace any of
these screws, always use the exact replacement green-headed screws to avoid damage to the
instrument. Anritsu PN: 905-8 (long); Z-951102 (short).
