NXA-WAP200G Wireless Access Point
Basic Wireless Configuration Page
This page can be accessed by pressing the
Wireless
tab from the top row of the Configuration
Utility. This page allows the configuration of the wireless portion of your network.
The Service Set Identifier (SSID) is a 32-character, case sensitive field that identifies your Wireless
Access Point (WAP) and the wireless network to wireless clients that support the IEEE 802.11b/g
wireless standards. You should use a unique SSID to control access to your private network, and to
prevent conflicts with other wireless networks that may be nearby. The NXA-WAP200G is
configured with a default SSID of
AMX
.
Set each of the parameters on this page as desired. The information from this page is displayed in
read-only format in the
Current Wireless Settings
section of the Setup page. The fields in the Basic
Wireless Configuration page (FIG. 41) are described in the table below.

Basic Wireless Configuration Page Information
SSID Broadcast:
The SSID broadcast can be either:
•
Enabled
: The WAP alerts all wireless clients of its presence and
broadcasts its SSID information, providing wireless clients in the area the
necessary SSID information needed in order for them to connect to the WAP.
For public areas, this makes connecting to the WAP much easier.
A Wi-Fi sniffer program takes this information and searches for the WAP from
among any available broadcasts.
•
Disabled
: The WAP adds another layer of security by making it more difficult
for users to locate the WAP and also adds an additional layer of security
since the user would have to know the exact SSID information in order to
access the network.
Note:
All clients on the same wireless LAN must use the same SSID. If you
change the SSID on the NXA-WAP200G, you must change the SSID for the
Modero panels and devices you are wanting to connect to the network.
Note:
If WEP is enabled wireless clients will need additional encryption keys
plus the SSID in order to access the wireless network.
