Configuring the Communication
Programming the Network Configuration
With the hardware setup now complete it is time to configure the WAP. The NXA-WAP200G
incorporates a browser-based management/configuration interface. The following section guides
you through the process of configuring your WAP200G for communication.
The AMX NXA-WAP200G is configured to work with an AMX network directly out of the box.
There is no need to configure the WAP, unless you want to enable increased wireless security,
change the IP Address, update passwords, deploy multiple WAPs, or other configuration options.
If you want to change the default configurations, you will need to access the browser-based
configuration utility of the NXA-WAP200G. You will need both a computer (TCP/IP protocol
enabled) and web browser software (Microsoft's Internet Explorer
©
, Netscape
©
, etc.).
In order for your computer to communicate with the NXA-WAP200G, both (your computer
and the WAP) need to be on the same Local Area Network
, i.e. they must be within the same IP
Address pool.
The default IP Address of the NXA-WAP200G is http://192.168.1.240
(FIG. 16).
As a result, your PC's IP Address should be between
192.168.1.1 thru 192.168.1.254
. An example
would be at a LAN IP Address such as 192.168.1.2, 192.168.1.3, etc.
You can connect to the browser-based Configuration Utility screens from any of the following three
communication options:
1.
Connect wirelessly through an 802.11b/g client on your PC or Laptop.
2.
Connect indirectly to the WAP through a Switch/Hub.
3.
Connect directly to the WAP via Ethernet.
If you wish to setup the NXA-WAP200G by using an 802.11b/g enabled PC, make sure the
802.11b/g card is setup to communicate with the WAP (sometimes referred to as
Infrastructure
Most of the most common setup problems associated with the WAP200G occur
because the procedures outlined within this section are not followed properly. Please
read these instructions carefully to avoid any confusion.
