Maintenance
The Control Unit includes a lithium backup battery. If this battery runs out, settings in the memory will be
lost when the Main Switch of the Control Unit is turned off. To prevent this, purchase a new battery from
us and replace the battery under either of the following conditions:
•
Three years have passed since battery replacement
•
Within one week after the first indication of battery errors

ML-7111A and ML-9001A
Have the following items ready when replacing the lithium battery of the ML-7111A and ML-9001A:
•
Lithium battery (new)
•
Hex wrench
•
Phillips screwdriver

About 30 minutes before replacing the
battery, turn on the Main Switch of the
Control Unit to activate the battery.
This step is required to charge the
internal power supply, which is used for
data storage during battery replacement.
You may skip this step if the marker has
already been in use for more than 30
minutes.

On the Control Unit, turn off the main
switch.

Unscrew the six screws on the sides of
the Control Unit.

Remove the carrying handle by
unscrewing the four hex screws on top
of the Control Unit on both sides.

Remove the cover by sliding it back about 15 mm and lifting it up.
4.8 Backup Lithium Battery Replacement
Follow your local environmental regulations for battery disposal, as the lithium battery
contains potentially harmful substances.
