Ethernet structures:
-
10Base2
The 10Base2 standard uses a thin coaxial cable (type RG58U) and is used for
short-distance networks (max. segment length 185 m, no links between
buildings) with few nodes.
-
10Base5
This standard is based on a thick coaxial cable. Possible 10Base5-applications
are networks of medium size installations within one building, with a medium
number of nodes. Refer to Section 4.2.2 for details.
-
10BaseT
This standard uses a twisted-pair cable. The nodes are linked with each other in
a star-like network via hubs. Possible applications are networks over short
distances within one building, with many nodes.
-
10BaseFL
This standard describes the use of fiber-optic cables. It ensures high immunity
to interference and a protective separation of the nodes from other circuits. To
be used for links between buildings or over long distances. Refer to Section
4.2.4 for details.
Plug Ethernet modules in E-slots, only!
The
AC 800F
slots
are
subdivided
into
the
following
groups:
P (Power), E (Ethernet) and F (fieldbus modules).
Plug the Ethernet modules in slot(s) E1 and/or E2.
Do not plug in any other slot.
A coding switch is located on
the top edge of every Ethernet
module. It is to be used for setting
the AC 800F IP address.
Refer to Section 5.3.1 for details.
