Grounding the AC 800F
The AC 800F is a protection class II device. Therefore, no external grounding to
protect against hazardous voltages is required.
The AC 800F is provided with a functional grounding to drain off high-frequency
interference. This is vital to RFI suppression and EMI/RFI shielding. Use a short
grounding conductor with a big surface. The grounding point on the AC 800F is
marked with the symbol
.
Do not connect the enclosure ground of the power supply module or the connectors
of all other modules with earth potential.
If the functional grounding is not done or is not sufficient, the RFI
suppression and EMI/RFI shielding of the system cannot be
guaranteed
.
When making the functional grounding, observe the following rules:
•
Select shortest way to
connector.
•
Ensure good conductivity,
use bright metal surfaces
without varnish.
•
Use a woven wire grounding
strap with a total cross-
sectional area of 16 mm², e.g.
RY 885F.
•
Grounding strap of max.
300 mm.

Grounding for cabinet mounting
For wall-mounting additionally follow these instructions:
•
Lay grounding rail with big surface close to the AC 800F.
•
Ground AC 800F with shortest possible grounding strap.
Note that screw connections do not provide sufficient contact.
