Check-List for Mounting
12-3
Sec. 4.2 Cabling the Ethernet modules
Does a network plan exist (4.2.4)?
Are acceptance measurements planned or have they already been performed
(4.2.4.2)?
Battery: Is a buffer battery installed in the Ethernet module?
Does the buffer battery have the right polarity?
Is an EI 811F, EI 812F, EI 813F or AM 811F module provided
to ensure battery buffering of the PM 803F?
Are routine maintenance intervals planned for the batteries?
Installing a 10Base2 network (4.2.5)
Are both cable ends terminated with the appropriate terminating resistors?
Is the 10Base2 cable grounded at each AC 800F with the appropriate clip?
Is the minimum spacing of 0.5 m between two nodes observed?
Is the max. permissible bus cable length observed?
Branch cables are not permissible. Is this rule observed?
Grounding: Did you avoid shorts to ground? Did you perform the appropriate
measurements to verify?
Were all cables laid and fastened properly. Were the cable shields put on?
Installing a 10Base5 network (4.2.6)
Is the bus cable length a multiple or a combination of the standard lengths?
Is the max. cable length of 500 m observed?
Was the max. cable length confirmed by a TDR measurement record?
Is the cable terminated at each end with the appropriate terminating resistor?
Is the bus cable grounded at exactly one point?
Did you prevent accidental ground fault of the 10Base5 bus cable by insulating
the ungrounded terminating resistor and the N/N connectors?
Are the transceivers attached to the cable at the marks?
Did you measure the resistance at each transceiver with an ohmmeter to see if it
is 25
Ω
between the shield contact and the core, with the terminating resistors
screwed on ?
Is the AUI cable shield put on the contact ledge properly? Did you fasten the
cable with the appropriate clips?
