Connection via RS232 interface for diagnosis

The RS232 interface is reserved for diagnostics and commissioning. Alternatively, a
radio clock receiver or GPS satellite radio clock can be connected. For normal
operation, it is not necessary to connect a diagnostic PC. Please refer to Section 5.4,
Diagnosing the AC 800F for more detailed information.

The AC 800F is supplied with a functional extra low voltage with protective
separation from other circuits. Note that connecting a diagnostic PC or
terminal may cancel out the protective separation of the AC 800F
unless it is provided with a protective separation as well or unless it is
battery-powered.

Connecting a PC, laptop or ANSI terminal

Cable a diagnostic PC, laptop or ANSI terminal as seen in Fig. 4-9.

Connection via RS232 interface for diagnostics

Link a serial PC interface (COM1 or COM2) with the diagnostic interface via
diagnostic cable. The diagnostic cable is designed for connection to a serial 9-pin PC
interface. Use an off-the-shelf 9 to 25 adapter if your PC should not provide a 9-pin
interface.

The diagnostic cable is available in two different lengths:

TK 890F

10 m long

TK 891F

5 m long

The diagnostic cable may be connected while the system is running. In this case, the
information given in Section 5.4 must be observed.

Connecting a PC that is switched off or has an improperly configured
serial interface will cause malfunctions of the AC 800F.
