IEEE 802.1Q VLAN

This chapter explains how to configure IEEE 802.1Q VLANs on the line card.

4.1 IEEE 802.1Q VLAN Overview

Use the web configurator to configure an IEEE 802.1Q Tagged VLAN (Virtual Local Area
Network) to partition a physical network into multiple logical networks. Stations on a logical
network belong to one group. A station can belong to more than one group. With VLAN, a
station cannot directly talk to or hear from stations that are not in the same group(s); the traffic
must first go through a router.
