SHDSL Port Commands
This chapter describes some of the SHDSL port standard shell commands that allow you to
configure and monitor the SHDSL ports.
9.1 SHDSL Overview
See the web configurator chapters on SHDSL for background information about SHDSL.
Command syntax and command examples are shown using Standard shell.
9.2 Configured Versus Actual Rate
You configure the maximum rate of an individual G.SHDSL port by modifying its profile or
assigning the port to a different profile. However, due to noise and other factors on the line, the
actual rate may not reach the maximum that you specify.
Even though you can specify arbitrary numbers, the actual rate is always a multiple of 64
Kbps. If you enter a rate that is not a multiple of 64 Kbps, the actual rate will be the next lower
multiple of 64 Kbps. For instance, if you specify 200 Kbps for a port, the actual rate for that
port will not exceed 192 Kbps, and if you specify 300 Kbps, the actual rate will not be over
256 Kbps.
