The MultiLab P5 contains 2 measuring programs to determine the
BOD

5

:

Method

1. BSB

5

measuring program

according to DIN 38409 part 51:

BSB5

(German display indications)

2. BOD

5

measuring program according to ISO 5815:

BOD

(English display indications)

The users select the measuring program adequate for their
application range.

The differences between the two measuring programs lie especially
in the formulas and procedures used in the evaluation, which are
required by above mentioned standards.
These evaluation regulations are realized according to standards in
the MultiLab P5.

The operation of both measuring programs is the same
(exception: For BOD

5

according to ISO 5815 single determinations

are sufficient => for final measurement only 1 bottle is required per
dilution or dilution water respectively).
The description of the operation course is, therefore, restricted to the
BSB

5

determination according to DIN 38409.

The display indications in the operation course are German (BSB

5

)

or English (BOD). With these measuring programs it is not possible
to change the language setting via the "Configuration" menu.

Note: It is only possible to change from the BSB

5

to the BOD

5

measuring program when there are no measured values
stored in the memory!
Otherwise the error message "BSB5 active" or "BOD5 aktiv"
appears.
If the user nevertheless wants to change the measuring
program the stored BSB

5

/ BOD

5

values are to be erased

The duration of the initial measurement is unlimited. After start of the
end measurement this duration is also unlimited.
