Settings for the Depth Measurement
6.5.5.1
Setting the Depth Measuring Range
The depth measuring range can be set using the
[RANGE]
keys. The depth measuring
range should be set according to the depths to be expected. The best resolution is ob-
tained when the difference between the displayed depth and the set depth measuring
range is as small as possible.
If the displayed depth is 30 m, for example, a better resolution will be obtained if the depth
measuring range is set to 50 m instead of 500 m.
Setting the depth measuring range
If the depth measuring range is significantly larger than the actual depth, it is possible
that the
Navigation Echo Sounder ELAC LAZ 5200
does not find the sea bed and a yel-
low question mark is displayed in the information field instead of the depth (
The depth measuring range can also be set automatically using the "Auto Mode" func-
tion (
6.5.5.4 "Activation of the "Auto Mode" Function").
Proceed as follows to set the depth mea-
suring range:
1. To reduce the range, press the
[RANGE]
key (up).
2. To increase the range, press the
[RANGE]
key (down).
–
The depth measuring range is set im-
mediately. No confirmation is neces-
sary.
Fig. 6.39: Setting the Depth Measuring Range
RANGE
If the largest depth measuring range has been selected and the
[RANGE]
key (down)
is pressed again, the automatic depth measuring range function is activated and the de-
vice initially sets the depth measuring range to 200 m.
