ELAC LAZ 5200 – Operating Instructions
Operation
6.3.2.4
Description of NON-IMO Mode
NON-IMO mode is active if only a non-approved transducer (LSE 179) is in use. When
NON-IMO mode is active, a corresponding message is displayed in the status bar
In NON-IMO mode, the depth information in NMEA data set DPT
9.3.8 is not complet-
ed. In this case, the NMEA data set PELASDS
9.3.12 can be used, as this data set
provides a depth value even with non-approved transducers.
6.3.2.5
Description of the Depth Alarm
The depth alarm can be triggered for both shallow and deep water. When the alarm func-
tion is active, the depth alarm is triggered when the set alarm limit is overrun.
When an alarm is triggered,
•
an acoustic alarm sounds;
– The acoustic alarm sounds as follows:
0.5 s tone; 0.5 s silence; 0.5 s tone; 0.5 s silence; 0.5 s tone; 4.5 s silence
•
the corresponding alarm message is displayed in the status bar (Fig.
6.20);
•
the corresponding alarm limit is displayed in red in the display area (
"Representation of Alarm Limits");
•
the alarm is output via the NMEA interfaces (serial and LWE);
•
the alarm relay is tripped.
Fig. 6.20: Alarm Message in the Status Bar
The alarm message consists of an alarm symbol
and the alarm type
. The alarm
symbol indicates the alarm status. The alarm type indicates whether the alarm is a shal-
low water alarm (SHALLOW) or deep water alarm (DEEP).
In the display of the alarm message, a distinction is made between answered alarms and
unanswered alarms. Unanswered alarms flash. Answered alarms do not flash.
If, in 2-channel mode (optional), both an approved transducer and a non-approved
transducer are used, NON-IMO mode is only active when only the channel of the non-
approved transducer is selected as active channel (
Channels"). If only the channel of the approved transducer is selected, or both transduc-
ers are selected, NON-IMO mode is deactivated.
In the case of an alarm, the alarm relay (ALARM-IF) is switched to ALARM-IF-NO. That
means ALARM-IF-COM and ALARM-IF-NO are connected. If there is no alarm,
ALARM-IF-COM and ALARM-IF-NC are connected.
