DPT is an NMEA data set that indicates the water depth. The indicated water depth de-
pends on the distance between the transducer and the keel. The data set is only trans-
mitted by the 

Navigation Echo Sounder ELAC LAZ 5200

.

The NMEA data set contains the following information:

If only a non-approved transducer is used (NON-IMO mode 

6.3.2.4), the depth infor-

mation is not included in data set DPT as the depth value cannot be marked as invalid 
in the data set. If NON-IMO mode is active, the data set PELACSDS 

9.3.12 can be 

used, as this data set provides a depth value even with non-approved transducers.
