4. Press the stream's Number Button under in

column to inject a single

burst of packets, for the configured burst size.

When done inserting bursts configuring the stream for transmitting at a

Constant %BW rate, set the Burst Size back to 1 to avoid "bursty" transmissions.

Inserting a Pause (Flow Control) into a Stream

Pausing frames is a means of flow control that specifies how long the transmitting
device should remain quite. The flow control gives limited ability to regulate a (high
bandwidth) source by sending pause frames to the source. Inserting a pause into a
stream causes the source to stop sending frames for a specified amount of time
(Quanta), allowing the (low bandwidth) receiver to catch up and process queued
frames.

Important:

Flow Control

must be enabled in order to count received Pause

Packets.

Important: Pause is not available when

IP Reflection

is enabled.

To start insert a Pause frame in a packet stream:

The Enter Pause Quanta keypad appears

3. Enter a Pause Quanta value and select

OK

.

A quanta is the unit of time required for transmitting 512-bits at the speed of the

port.

The number of quanta (N x 512-bits) indicate the duration of the pause.

Valid pause quanta values are 0-65535.

A pause frame with a pause quanta of 0 indicates a resume frame to restart the

paused traffic.
