Chemical Image-Based Particle Analysis
For chemical image-based particle analysis, either open a saved chemical image or collect a
region in the Acquisition window and then analyze the chemical image in the Analysis
window.
 To detect and measure particles using a chemical image
1. Collect a new chemical image for your sample or open the chemical image in the analysis
window. For more on collecting a chemical image, see Acquire and Analyze a Chemical
Image .
2. In the Analysis window, right-click the image and select Analyze Particles in Selected
Region.
The Particle analysis window opens, showing the particle selection tools and the results
tab.
3. In the Setup tab, refine your settings to include particles in the image that you want to
analyze and to exclude other areas from the analysis. For details, see Settings for Particle
Analysis .
4. When you are satisfied with the selection, click the Results tab to view the results of the
particle analysis.
You can use the Search Setup to refine your results. Open the Search Setup and add one or
more spectral regions to use in the search. Select Use Region in Search. After you click OK,
the particle analysis is re-run using the specified regions.

Settings for Particle Analysis
Use settings in the Particle Selection tab to refine your selection of particles before measuring.
The Particle Selection tab is only available with the optional Particle Analysis Add-On.
There are a few differences between setup options for video- and chemical-image based
particle analysis.
