8. Locate the pinhole in the substrate.
Turn the brightness control most of the way down (the pinhole is backlit). Adjust the X
and Y position of the stage until the substrate fills the field of view. Then look for the
pinhole. (It is not necessarily in the center of the opening in the alignment tool.)
Use the focus control to bring the pinhole into sharp focus, adjusting the brightness as
needed to optimize the image contrast.

9. Position the focused pinhole exactly in the cross hairs of the microscope eyepiece.
Look through the eyepiece on the microscope and adjust the diopter ring on the right lens
if necessary to straighten the cross hairs.
Adjust the X and Y position of the stage until the pinhole is exactly under the box in the
center of the cross hairs.
