Additional features that occur when the software is running:
• The stage speed will adjust automatically depending on the selected video calibration.
This will allow the user to more accurately position a sample depending on the objective
magnification (i.e., stage will move faster if 10x video calibration is selected as compared
to a 100x video calibration).
• To aid in sample positioning (insert/eject) if the
Left
button is depressed, the XY joystick
speed will increase to allow fast positioning. When released, the XY joystick will cycle to
the next speed setting.
• When the
Right
button is depressed, the Z axis speed will increase as the “Focus knob” is
rotated to allow fast sample positioning. This feature is particularly useful when
loading/unloading samples. When the button is released, the previous focus speed is
enabled.
Using Confocal Operation
Confocal operation provides a well defined focus that is useful when examining layered
materials or very small samples.
To make maximum use of your microscope’s confocal capability, use a 100x objective and
select the 25 micrometer confocal pinhole aperture in the software.
Using the Raman Polarization Option
The microscope can be purchased with optional optics to collect polarized Raman
measurements. If the polarization kit is installed, polarization settings will be available in the
Advanced Acquisition settings tab within the OMNICxi software.

Centering switches
Engage/disengage the centering springs on the joystick. If
disengaged, the joystick will not self-center and will cause the
stage to move when not expected. It is recommended that
centering springs remain engaged.
