Before installing the add-on module, it is necessary to prepare the area.
Remove all cultures and glassware from the chamber and make sure there
is adequate space to the left of the anaerobic cabinet. If possible, both
cabinets should be installed on the same table. If this is not possible, be
sure that both tables are the same height and that they are both level.
1. Make sure that the add-on chamber is in place, ready to be joined to
the main chamber. This part of the procedure must be performed
correctly to ensure an airtight seal.
2. Remove the (19) acorn nuts securing the end panel.
3. Remove all the old tape gasket and Silastic from the main chamber.
Clean and dry the joining surface of both chambers.
4. Install the tape gasket over the stud holes on the contact side of the
add-on chamber. Make sure the gasket edges are square to ensure a
tight seal. The corners can be a source of leaks if not sealed properly.
5. Apply a thin bead of silicone sealant to the exposed side of the gasket.
6. Push the two cabinets together, matching up the pilot studs in each of
the four corners of the cabinet with their respective holes. The studs
make holes in the gasket.
7. Tighten one nut at each of the four corners of the cabinet to serve as
guides when docking with the add-on module.
8. Alternately tighten all nuts. This ensures even pressure on the gasket.
9. Allow Silastic to cure overnight before beginning start-up procedure.
