Anaerobic System 3-1
Thermo Scientific
Section 3
Maintenance
The chamber and incubator interiors may be cleaned with soap and water,
and/or sterilized with a general use, laboratory disinfectant.
Caution
Do not use strong alkaline or caustic agents. Stainless steel is
corrosion-resistant, not corrosion-proof. Do not use solutions of sodium
hypochlorite (bleach), as they can cause rusting and pitting.
s
Caution
Do not use solutions containing ketones, toluene or xyrene, etc.,
as these chemicals will adversely affect the vinyl.
s
Clean the cabinet exterior with soap and water or with any non-abrasive
commercial spray cleaner. The glass door may be cleaned with commercial
glass cleaner or with a solution of ammonia and water.
Clean the door gaskets routinely with a solution of mild soap and water to
help prevent gas leakage.
It may be desirable to shut down the system, remove the front, and clean it
thoroughly once or twice a year, depending upon use.
To prolong the life of the vinyl front and protect it from possible drying
and cracking, apply a vinyl preservative to the front on a weekly basis. The
use of Armor All® is recommended. This product is available in many
discount and department stores.
The glove box and interchange should be checked routinely for leaks,
especially if the chamber is not in use, or a loss of vacuum is detected in
the interchange.
