Shutting Down the System
Before you can install the tape library or upgrade your hardware, you must shut
down the system. If a step is omitted, the system may fail to boot, or fail to correctly
configure the tape drive.
1. Become superuser by typing
su
and pressing Return.
2. Shut down the operating system.
Use either the
init
or
shutdown
commands. See the man pages for these
commands or the Solaris AnswerBook online documentation.
Note –
If your system is acting as a server, use the
shutdown
command to inform
the mounted users that the system will be going down. Otherwise, use the
init 0
command.
The system should now be at the
ok
prompt. If a
>
prompt is showing, type
n
to
switch to the
ok
prompt.
% su
