3.2 Installation requirements
FIDAMAT 6-G
3-4
Operating instructions, 07/2006, A5E00478463
Maintenance
Check both the electric safety, as well as the functional capability of all device components,
on a regular basis. Have the FIDAMAT 6 undergo yearly maintenance. Especially check the
leak-tightness of the gas flow within the device (containment system).
Notice
After performing servicing work on the containment system, always carry out a leak check!
If no negative influences are to be expected with regard to chemical corrosion on the gaskets
which come into contact with the sample gas, it is up to the operator whether he wants to
extend the maintenance interval in special cases.
Only clean the control panel with a moist cloth.
Exhaust gas line
The majority of the supplied sample gas is conducted via a so-called bypass to the gas
output (exhaust).
Warning
If the gases released in this way are flammable, toxic or otherwise harmful to health, it is
essential that they are deduced such that no risk is posed to the environment.
If the exhaust gas should flow off into a collection line, observe the following points:
•
Keep the flow resistance in the collection line low by using a short line, or by using a
transition to a larger diameter.
•
The gas line must be free of fast pressure fluctuations. If this isn't the case, either a
special exhaust line must be installed, or a damping container with restrictor (> 1 l) must
be installed between the device and exhaust line (pneumatic low pass).
•
Lay the cable with constant gradient to prevent congestion in the exhaust line (e.g., due
to water condensation) and therefore damage to the device due to water formation. We
recommend to connect a siphon as a water separator. The exhaust gas line connected to
the device must have an internal diameter of at least 8 mm due to water condensation.
Sample gas path in the device (containment system)
The materials which come into contact with the sample gas must be resistant to it. The
gaskets are made of the materials: stainless steel 1.4571 (gas outputs), graphite and/or
PTFE.
In order to guarantee the leak-tightness of the containment system, carry out leak tests
regularly. If a leak is detected, you must eliminate the cause before you can start measuring
again. A possible measure to take for this is to exchange gaskets.
