C. Signal list
Signal
Direction
Function
CMD
Controller
→
Engine
(Command)
Command sending line to
Engine. Controller sends
various commands to the
Engine through this line.
/CRDY
Controller
←
Engine
(Command Ready)
"Low" for ready to receive
"CMD" from the Controller.
When this signal is "Hi",
"CMD" signal is ignored.
STS
Controller
←
Engine
(Status)
Status sending line from the
Engine. Controller receives
various status information
from the Engine through this
line.
/SRDY
Controller
→
Engine
(Status Ready)
"Low" for ready to receive
"STS" signal from the Engine.
When this signal is "Hi", "STS"
signal is ignored.
/CBSY
Controller
→
Engine
(Controller Busy)
It becomes a "Low" signal if a
ICU is busy after the power is
turned on. "CBSY" and
"SRDY", at the time of the
condition of "Low" PCU
receive only command
because of the indication from
the ICU. ICU does not send
command except for the
indication. PCU doesn’t send
a status to the ICU.
/READY
Controller
←
Engine
(Ready)
"Low" for ready to print. "Hi"
for warm-up, error detected or
printer busy.
/PAGE
Controller
→
Engine
(Page)
Print start request to Engine. It
should be "Low" during
transmission of one full page
of data. When this signal is
received, provided that there
is no error, the Engine will
start operation.
/PAGAK
Controller
←
Engine
(Page Acknowledge)
Page signal acknowledge.
/HSYNC
Controller
←
Engine
(Horizontal Sync)
Sync signal for line by line
printing. This signal indicates
start timing of each line.
/VSYNC
Controller
←
Engine
(Vertical Sync)
A synchronization signal in
front of the page. This signal
indicates start timing of each
page.
/DATA
Controller
→
Engine
(Data)
Print video data Line. "Low"
for color (Black) and "Hi" for
white. To be kept "Hi" after
transmission of one line.
/RES
Controller
←
Engine
(Reset)
Hardware initialization request
from Engine. Active "Low"
State.
D. Printer Operation Sequence
1. Engine is ready for printing
2. Print Start Request from Controller to Engine
3. Engin on receiving /PAGE "Low" send /PAGAK "Low" to Control-
ler
4. Printer turns /READY to "Hi" (busy stae)
5. Printer sends /VSYNC for the first color (Cyan) to the Controller
6. Printer turns on the polygon motor and sends the /HSYNC for
the first color (Cyan) to the Controller. (The Time "T1" varies
depending on the process condition)
7. Printer sends /VSYNC for the second color (Magenta)
8. Printer sends /HSYNC for the second color (Magenta)
9. Printer sends /VSYNC for the third color (Yellow)
10. Printer sends /HSYNC for the third color (Yellow)
11. Controller after sending one page of data, turns /PAGE to "Hi".
The /PAGE signal should remain "Low" during the time to print
the complete page.
Video Data Transmission Timing
1. The /DATA signal is generated in synchronization with the falling
edge of the /HSYNC. The left margin starts 22.1 us from the
falling edge of the /HSYNC. This means that the first dot starts
after the left void area in addition to 22.1 us from the falling edge
of /HSYNC.
2. The active low period of /HSYNC is between 1 us and 20 us
3. The /DATA signal to be "Hi" after sending the last bit of line data.
4. The fastest bandwidth supported by /DATA is about 25 MHz
5. The data clock is 1/74.29ns = 13.46MHz
