Internal Pulse Modulation with extended features, e.g. generation of double pulse,
requires option R&S
SMF-K23, Pulse Generator. The pulse signal is output at the
PULSE OUT connector at the front of the instrument. Narrow pulse modulation is provi-
ded by option R&S
SMF-K3, and pulse train by option R&S
SMF-K27.
Note:
For an overview of the modulation modes that can be simultaneously used, refer
"Simultaneous Operation of Several Modulations or Other Oper-
The status display in the block shows the active modulation(s).
Use the TOGGLE ON/OFF key to switch the modulation on or off.
LF Gen./Noise block
In this block, two internal LF generators and a noise generator which can be used as
internal modulation sources for analog modulations (amplitude modulation, frequency
modulation, phase modulation) are configured. The LF/noise generators can also be
used as the signal source for the LF output at the rear of the instrument.
The LF frequency sweep is also configured in this block.
LF Output block
In this block, the LF output and the LF level sweep are configured.
The internal LF generators, the noise generator, or the external inputs EXT
1 and
EXT
2 can be selected as source for the LF output.
Pulse Gen. block
In this block, the settings for the internal pulse generator can be performed.
The pulse generator provides single and double pulse modulation with selectable pulse
widths and periods. The signal is output at the PULSE OUT connector.
Pulse Mod. block
In this block, the narrow pulse modulation is activated and configured. Narrow pulse
modulation requires option R&S
SMF-K3.
Attenuator block
In this block, the attenuator settings for the RF signal are performed.
SMZxxx block
By connecting an R&S SMZ75/90/110/170 Frequency Multiplier, the R&S
SMF indi-
cates a separate block for the frequency multiplier. The block shows the model of the
frequency multiplier and its associated frequency range.
The model of the multiplier is differentiated in the header of the block:
●
"SMZ-BxxxE" with electronical level control
●
"SMZ-BxxxM" with a mechanical level control
