5.5.6 Pulse Modulation (PM)
External and internal pulse modulation is available for the basic unit of the R&S
SMF
equipped with the pulse modulation options.
The external signal is input via the PULSE IN connector at the front of the instrument.
The connector can be used as trigger input for internal pulse modulation. The external
pulse signal is output at the VIDEO connector at the back of the instrument.
Narrow pulse modulation is provided by option R&S
SMF-K3. Internal pulse modulation
with extended features, e.g. generation of double pulse, requires option R&S
SMF-
K23, Pulse Generator. The generation of a pulse train requires option R&S
SMF-K27.
The pulse signal is output at the PULSE OUT connector at the front of the instrument.
It is not possible to use pulse modulation simultaneously with digital amplitude modula-
tion or with digital frequency modulation.
