e) Binding Function and Failsafe Function
To enable transmitter and receiver to work together, they must be bound by the same digital code. This teaching
process (called "binding" or "pairing") has already been performed by the manufacturer, but it can be repeated by
you at any time.
The fail-safe function of the receiver can also be programmed after teaching is complete. If the receiver does not rec-
ognise any valid signal from the transmitter (e.g. transmitter out of range, batteries in the transmitter flat or transmitter
off), the receiver will emit a defined control signal to the speed controller to stop the vehicle.
Proceed as follows to perform the binding function and then programme the fail-safe function:
• Transmitter and receiver (installed in the vehicle) must be in direct proximity (distance approx. 50 cm).
• Switch off the speed controller. Then switch off the transmitter.
• If you have not done so yet, connect a drive battery to the speed controller. Also insert batteries in the transmitter.
• Connect the programming plug (A) to the bottom-most
connection "4/B" of the receiver (B).
The programming plug is either enclosed separately, or
attached to the lines in the receiver via its loop (to keep
it from getting lost).
The figure on the right shows the receiver separately.
Do not disconnect the cables to the steering servo and
speed controller, however. Do not pull out these plugs!
• Place the vehicle on an appropriate surface so that the
wheels can turn freely and the vehicle is standing safely.
Never reach into the drive, and do not stop the wheels
with your hand.
• Switch on the speed controller. The blue LED (C) in the receiver will flash quickly.
• Keep the button "PAIR" (see figure in chapter 9. a), item 8) pushed and switch on the transmitter. Continue to push
and hold the button (don't release it). The green LED at the transmitter flashes slowly.
• Once the receiver has recognised the transmitter, the blue LED (C) in the receiver will flash slowly.
• After a few seconds, the two LEDs will stop flashing and will be lit permanently. Now release the button "PAIR" at
the transmitter; the receiver is paired with the transmitter.
• Then the fail-safe function can be programmed.
Let go of the throttle lever on the transmitter so that it is in the neutral position (middle position). The vehicle's motor
must not turn (if required, correct with the trim controller "TH.TRIM" at the transmitter).
If the motor stands still, pull the programming plug out of the receiver. The receiver saves the current position of the
throttle lever as the fail-safe position.
Important!
Always save the neutral position (the vehicle's motor must not turn) as the fail-safe position in the receiver.
• After removing the programming plug, the vehicle and the transmitter are ready for operation.
