9. Connect the

bottom

Tip:

You will hear an audible click, when the handle is correctly locked into

place.

11. Tighten the top and bottom screws on both the left and right rail kit.

3.10 Sanity check

After completely installing the first Storage Enclosure Basic, Quantum Corporation strongly recommends

that you perform a sanity check before continuing with assembly of the ActiveScale X100. The sanity

check consists of the following tasks:

• Attach (or re-attach) the PDUs. Do not connect power to the PDUs.
• Plug the Storage Enclosure Basic power cords into the PDUs at the same level of the Storage

Enclosure Basic fans. Verify that the fans can be serviced with the PDUs and power cables in place.

• If detached, re-attach the back door of the rack cabinet. Verify that the door will close with the Storage

Enclosure Basic in place

• If detached, re-attach the front door of the rack cabinet. Verify that the door will close with the

Storage Enclosure Basic in place.

• If the power to the PDUs exits the rack from the bottom, verify that there is enough space between the

Storage Enclosure Basic and the rack frame for the cord to exit.

If the Storage Enclosure Basic and PDUs fit in the rack satisfactorily, then perform the following tasks:

• Remove the front door of the rack cabinet.
• Remove the back door of the rack cabinet.
• Unplug the Storage Enclosure Basic and remove the PDUs from the rack. Then continue assembling

the ActiveScale X100.

3.11 Assemble the remaining Storage Enclosure Basics

Beginning with

Installing the rail kit

on page 39 repeat the Storage Enclosure Basic assembly instructions

for the remaining enclosures.
