ActiveScale™ OS X100 Rackless Installation Guide

be caused by electrostatic discharge (ESD) during the assembly process. Take

sensible ESD precautions when assembling Storage Enclosure Basics.

3.2.1 Unpacking a Storage Enclosure Basic

When unpacking a Storage Enclosure Basic, perform the following steps:

1. Identify the box that has the Storage Enclosure Basic label. As you assemble the ActiveScale X100

open, Storage Enclosure Basic boxes in sequential order.

2. Open the box.
3. Verify the serial number on the chassis matches the rack serial number, and verify that the chassis

number is correct.

4. As you remove parts from the box, inspect connectors for any signs of damage.

Depending on the size of the cart that is available for transporting the unpacked components of the

Storage Enclosure Basic to the data center, you may need to divide the contents into two loads. If this

is the case, remove the I/O module from the box and set it aside. Then unpack the remaining

components--except for the drive sleds at the bottom of the box--and set them on the cart. Place the I/
