21 How to read cable labels

Each data cable in the system contains a label at both ends to determine where to connect the cables into a 

component.
The image below provides the necessary information to understand the connections for each particular 

cable. The component name and number identifies the specific component within the system that is being 

cabled. For example, as seen in the image below, SN3 refers to the 3rd System Node in the system and the 

N4 refers to the port the cable is being connected to in SN3. In the label image below, the colon separates 

the component 1 information from component 2 information. SW2 refers to the second System 

Interconnect in the system and 12 refers to the port the cable is being connected to in System Interconnect 

2.

The cable labels contain a two letter identifier for each of the components. This table provides the 

component naming convention used in the cabling map: 

21.1 Cable mapping

The diagram below identifies the ports on each of the components in the system. Each of the ports being 

identified can be found on the cable label after the component name and number.
For example, using the label image above, CSN3 is the component name and number and N4 is the port 

identification. This diagram displays the each of the ports used, per component, to cable the system:
