Local Database Error (E-D/B)
An error has occurred trying to update the local NHAIS system with this transaction.
This means the PDS has successfully been updated by the NHAIS system with the
detail of the transaction, but an error occurred when an attempt was made to update
the local NHAIS system.
Examples of when this might occur include the system finding that:
•
it cannot apply an amendment or deduction transaction to the local NHAIS
system because the patient no longer exists as a live patient with the same
NHS number; or
•
a file is ‘temporarily locked’ so that, for the moment, the update cannot be
applied.
For such a transaction with an error status of
E-D/B
, you will be offered three options
for the
Action
field on page 3 of the UQ screen:
•
U
to update, allowing you to make a further attempt at updating the local
NHAIS system with the transaction details.
•
D
to delete, allowing you to delete this transaction from UQ.
•
Q
to quit, allowing you to quit out from this screen back to page 2.
If you find that using the
U
option repeatedly results in the same error occurring in the
local update, you might wish to use the
D
option to delete the transaction from UQ.
Before deleting the transaction, it is recommended that you print the detail of the
transaction in order that, if required, you may go to the relevant screen within the
system to make another attempt at updating this patient in respect of this change.
Time-out (E-T/O)
A timeout has occurred for this PDS update transaction. This means that a response
has not yet been received back from the PDS to the update that you have submitted. A
background process within the system will automatically continue to check for a
response being received back from the PDS; if no response is received back after the
PDS response period has passed, the error status for this transaction will automatically
change to
E-PDS
(PDS Error).
For such a transaction with an error status of
E-T/O
, initially you will be offered two
options for the
Action
field on page 3 of the UQ screen:
•
C
to compare, allowing you to check the PDS to see if the transaction has
already been applied to the PDS (with you simply failing to receive a response
back from the PDS).
•
Q
to quit, allowing you to quit out from this screen back to page 2.
If you use the
C
(compare) option and the system finds that the changes within your
transaction have been applied to the PDS, you will be offered a
U
option, allowing
you to proceed to update the local NHAIS system with the transaction details, and
thereby clearing this transaction from UQ.
If you use the
C
(compare) option and the system finds that the PDS still holds the
same information for the patient as existed at the time that the transaction was created
