DVD MULTI Drive
How to switch the drive power on/off

Use the drive power/open switch (A).
• If you slide the switch to the right, the power will turn on, and the disk cover will open.
• Each time the switch is slid to the left, the power will turn on or off.
NOTE
z
The drive power can only be switched on/off after Windows has started.
z
Whether the switch is slid to the left or right, a short "beep" will sound. After this beep,
it will take some time for the drive power to turn on or off, or for the disk cover to open.
Wait for a moment
(When the speaker function is disabled, e.g., by the key combination
Fn
+
F4
, there
will be no sound.)
z
The drive power can also be turned on/off by using the Optical Disc Drive Power-
Saving utility (
z
Do not slide the drive power/open switch repeatedly.
If the switch is slid repeatedly, the message [D: \ unusable location…]
may be
displayed, but this is not a malfunction. Click [OK].

[D:] is the name of the DVD MULTI drive. This may differ depending on your computer’s usage
status.

The drive power can be turned on/off by using [Manual Switching] of the Optical Disc
Drive Power-Saving utility (
NOTE
z
You can also turn the drive power on by sliding the open lever (A), however, the disk
cover will open.
• This operation can only be executed after Windows has started.
When the open lever (A) is slid, a short "beep" will sound. After this beep, it will take
some time for the drive power to turn on, and for the disk cover to open. Wait for a
moment (When the speaker function is disabled, e.g., by the key combination
Fn

F4
, there will be no sound.
