DVD MULTI Drive
About the Optical Disc Drive Power-Saving Utility
NOTE

This utility only works with the built-in DVD MULTI drive in this computer. It will not
work with external CD/DVD drives.
This utility automatically turns the drive power off after the DVD MULTI drive power has been
turned on, or after a disk has been removed from the DVD MULTI drive, if a certain period of
time passes during which a disk is not set in the drive. You can turn the drive power off
immediately using [Manual Switching].

At the time of purchase, this period is set at 3 minutes.
z
To turn the power on again after it has turned off:
You can turn the drive power on using [Manual Switching].
<CF-Y2 series>
You can also turn the drive power on by sliding the drive power/open switch to the left.
<CF-W2 series>
You can also turn the drive power on by sliding the open lever, however, the disk cover will
open.

When a disk formatted using B's CLiP has been set:
• If the utility does not turn off automatically even after the media has been removed, turn
it off manually. (
)
• When the
icon is displayed on the notification area, the DVD MULTI drive power can
not be turned off. In this case, right-click the
icon and click [Eject], then eject the
disk. To turn the power off soon, after a disk has been removed, turn the drive power off
using [Manual Switching].

The drive power will not turn off automatically when an external CD/DVD drive has been
connected.
z
When WinDVD is running, this utility cannot be used to turn off the power of the DVD
MULTI drive.
