The Workstation Installation/Operation Manual Version 2 Document 51540 Rev. B1 4/8/02
H
History Database
- Maintains a record of all events and actions that take place. The history database holds a
large amount of data and can become the largest of all the database files.
HVAC
- HVAC stands for Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning.
I
Information Label
- Information labels are icons that may include linked text, pictures, video, and sound that
represent information about locations or specific details about areas of the monitored network. Information labels
are not actual physical devices. Examples of information labels include biohazard area designations (including
pictures of the area and text directions providing specific instructions and cautions), construction area designations,
exit designators, etc. The linked material of information labels is accessed with the pop-up menu of the icon.
IP Address
- An IP address is a unique identifier that represents a connection of a TCP/IP network. IP addresses
are used to address individual workstations and servers on the UniNet network.
K
Keymap
- The keymap provides either an overview of the currently displayed screen (without devices, buttons, or
other objects) or a predefined bitmap. The keymap can be opened by selecting
Keymap
in the
View
menu of
the main screen pulldowns or clicking the keymap button in the graphic toolbox.
L
Linked Information
- Any addressable device or information label on the floor plan can have linked
information. Linked information can be text, video, bitmaps, and sound. To access the linked information on a
device (either addressable or an information label), right click on the icon to bring up the pop-up menu and then
make the appropriate selection.
Local Area Server
- The Local Area Server, or Alarm Server, provides communication between the device
network using Echelon, and the event manager, using TCP/IP. The Local Area Servers provide the gateway for the
conversion between Echelon and TCP/IP.
M
Macro
- Macros are used to define custom commands for communication with particular devices on the network.
Macros can be defined to perform a variety of different commands (dependent on the device type), to one or more
specified devices. Furthermore, Macros can be linked to either function keys or functional buttons on the screen
display.
Member Database
- The Member Database holds all of the information pertaining to members of the system.
This includes operators and individuals with access to the monitored sites through card access systems.
Monitoring Profiles
- Monitoring profiles allow the operator to select exactly what events are seen by the
workstation, organized based on selecting specific nodes, subnodes and devices. Monitoring assignments are the
job of the system administrator, who creates a number of profiles that can be selected by the operator. Usually
these profiles are created around a physical or operational structure, such as by building or by work shift.
N
Navigational Buttons
- Navigational Buttons are buttons on the floor plan display that navigate to a
predefined screen.
NION
- NION stands for Network Input Output Node. A NION is the standardized term for a device that
communicates between a number of physical world devices and the workstation.
