Defining A Function Key
Use the following procedures as an outline for defining function keys:
• Select the radio button of the function key that is to be reassigned. Any of the 12 functions keys can be
selected, but keep in mind that regardless of its settings, F1 will be set to on-line help.
• Next, select the down arrow on the
Action Assignment
pull-down menu. This will bring up a list of
different functions that can be assigned to a function key. Select the desired action.
• Now in the function specific area, enter any information or make any options that are specific to the
selected action.
• Select the
Help Text
field and enter a brief name that will be used in the function key toolbar.
• Repeat this procedure for each function key. When all keys are defined, click on the
Done
icon.
There are different possible function key actions. Here is a list of each action with notes (if applicable) on the
function specific options available for each action.

(No Assignment)
- No Function
•
Navigate to a Specified Screen
- Loads
a specified screen. This action has a field for
screen number, which can accept any screen
number or "+" and "-" for increment and
decrement.
•
Select Control Profile
- Opens the
Con-
trol Profile Selection
dialog. Same as
Tools, Node Control
Selection.
•
Select Event Monitoring Profile
- Opens
the
Event Monitoring Profile Selection
dialog. Same as
Tools, Event Monitoring
Selection.
•
Acknowledge Event
- Acknowledges the
next event in the
Unacknowledged Event
Box

ACK
button.
•
Operator Login
- Calls up the
Operator
Login
dialog box. Same as clicking
Current
Operator

Toggle Keymap
- Displays or closes the
Keymap
window. Same as
View, Keymap
•
View Active Alarm Servers
- Calls up the
Active Alarm Servers
form. Same as
clicking the
Active Alarm Servers
button.

View Outbound Messages
- Calls up the
Outbound Messages Queue
windows.
Same as clicking the
Outbound Msg
button.

Search for Existing Symbol
- Performs a
search through the device library for a user
entered string. Prompts for this string upon
execution of the function. Same as
Graphics,
Search for a Symbol.

View Symbol Key / Legend
- Calls up
the
Symbol Key
list. Same as
View,
Symbol Key.

View Site Information
- Calls up the
Site
Information
form. Same as
View, Site
Information.
•
Active Messages Window
- Opens the
Current Events
form. Same as
View,
Latest Messages
.
•
Activate Expanded Event Box
- Opens
the
Normal Events Display

•
Image Zoom In
- Zooms the floor plan in
by 50%. Same as the
Zoom In
button on the
graphics toolbar.
•
Image Zoom Out
- Zooms the floor plan
out by 50%. Same as the
Zoom Out
button
on the graphics toolbar.
•
Image Zoom 100%
- Resets the floor plan
to 100% zoom. Same as the
Zoom 100%
button on the graphics toolbar.
•
Toggle Edit Mode
- Toggles on/off
Edit
Mode

Activate Help
- Calls up the on-line help
system.
•
Toggle Function Key Help Bar

Activates or deactivates the
Function Key

Logout
- Logout from the current operator
account. Automatically returns to the Default
account.
•
Map Macro to Key
(Macros) - Maps
function key to a predefined macro function.
This function has specific options to specify
macro number and a button that opens the
macro editor (section 3.5.4).
•
Backup History File
- Backs up the current
history buffer and creates a blank history buffer.
•
Toggle Device/Display ID Settings

Initiate Shift Change
- Logs out the current
operator and logs in the next shift change rated
operator in sequence.
•
Suppress Auto Navigation
- Globally
disables
automatic
screen navigation for new
events.
•
Clear Speech Queue
- When Speech
Annunciation is enabled and there are multiple
events in the queue, this silences the remaining
events. It does not clear the events, however.
