3.5.3 Defining Function Keys and Command Buttons
The
Function Key Configuration
form allows the assignment of different workstation and device related
commands to each of the 12 functions keys (with the exception of F1, which is hard set to activating the help
system). The function key definition menu is accessible in
Tools, Function Key Editor.
The network Node/SubNode Display shows the hierarchy of the network. On the far left is an entry for each site,
with a small expansion box (showing a minus for expanded and a plus for non-expanded) to the left. Clicking on
the expansion box opens up the site to show each node (by node number) of the site. This can be expanded
(again with the expansion boxes) further to show subnodes/devices for each node. For each level selected (node,
subnode, device) the display will change to show only information specific to the selection.
With the network configuration window, you can view each physical network device in terms of hardware devices
recognized by the workstation, view how the device is annunciated, and the device's real world description. For
each physical device (subnode), the
NION type
field defines the device type. This is chosen from a list of sup-
ported devices (pulldown list). The workstation will attempt to detect the proper device type for a new autodetected
device, but this field is also modifiable. Double-clicking an individual device will navigate the screens to that
device.
The
Alarm Mode
field displays how the device is annunciated (either graphic or text). Graphic annunciation
operates in the standard fashion, using text and icon annunciation. Text based annunciation works in the same
fashion as graphic annunciation, except that there is no display annunciation. An event will come into the event
box as normal and go to the history file, but the screen will not autonavigate and there is no icon for the device.
The
Description
field holds a real world description for the specific device. This device description is the same
as the device description in the device pulldown menu, and can be anything that allows the users to identify the
device.
If the NION type is undefined, use the menu option
Inquire Device Type from Node
. This will update the
NION type from the local area server. This function is not available for wide area nodes.
