for example, a fan failure or a failed power supply.

Prerequisites to 3-slot Passport switch shelf replacement

CAUTION

Service loss due to switch outage

Replacing a shelf removes a switch from service for the
duration of the replacement. Minimize the impact of the
switch outage by rerouting traffic to other switches in
the network before powering down the switch.

CAUTION

Risk of electrostatic damage

When handling processor cards, wear a grounded
antistatic wrist strap so that you do not damage electronic
parts. For more information, see “Avoid damage from
static electricity” (page 174).
