3 If the FP requires a control cable, connect the control cable for a main FP
to the termination panel. You must connect at least one control cable
between the FPs in the sparing configuration and the termination panel.
Otherwise, the panel does not switch processor cards when an FP fails.
Note: Any of the FPs in a sparing configuration can power and control
the termination panel to which they are attached. However, the active FP
always supplies power to the termination panel.
4 Fasten these cables securely to the faceplate of a main FP.
5 If you are cabling a one-for-n sparing configuration, repeat step 2 to
step 4 for each main FP.
6 If you are cabling a sparing configuration, connect the cables for the spare
FP to the termination panel. If the spare FP requires a control cable,
connect the control cable for the spare FP to the termination panel.
7 Fasten these cables securely to the faceplate of the spare FP.
8 Attach one end of each customer equipment cable to the termination
panel and connect the other end to the customer equipment.
