Passport 7400 Hardware Installation, Maintenance, and Upgrade 5.2S1

Installing a 16-slot Passport switch shelf

Install a 16-slot Passport switch before installing any processor cards or
cables.

Prerequisites

•

You will need a 16-slot Passport switch with PEC NTJS62 (ac) or
NTJS63 (dc).

•

Ensure the rack or cabinet is installed and grounded. If you are installing
a second 16-slot Passport switch in a cabinet or rack, you must install the
cooling unit of the second switch directly above the cable management
unit of the first switch. For information about air flow requirements, see
241-7401-200 Passport 7400 Hardware Description.

Procedure steps

1

Remove the cooling unit and the air filter from the cooling unit chassis.

Gently insert the cooling unit chassis into the cabinet or rack as shown in
the figure “16-slot Passport switch cooling unit chassis” (page 227)

If you install the switch above another switch, leave approximately 5 cm
(2 in.) between the two switches. Insert the lowest screw that secures the
cooling unit chassis in the sixth available hole above the lower switch.

Hold the chassis in place with one hand and use a 5/16-in. socket wrench
to secure the unit to the frame. Use the four screws that are taped to the
unit.

WARNING

Risk of injury

The shelf assembly weighs 20.9 kg (46 lb). You need two
people to perform this procedure.
