Protection Relay Settings

34

The myPV ClearSky PLUS routes all OPEN/TRIP and CLOSE commands through the 
Protection Relay (SEL-751). The SEL-751 may be interacted with normally though the 
push button interface, the SEL AcSELerator software, or via SCADA command. The 
SEL-751 does not immediately CLOSE when commanded, instead it coordinates the 
CLOSE event with a secondary logic device called the “RVC Controller”.

CLOSE SEQUENCE

1. CLOSE command to SEL-751 (RVC, Local, Software, SCADA, or Reclosing)

2. If ready, SEL-751 signals RVC to start automated switching sequence (maintained

signal)

3. RVC CLOSEs LV Relay Contactor (maintained coil)

4. RVC Controller verifies LV CLOSE via AUX contact.

5. After delay, RVC Controller signals SEL-751 to CLOSE MV Breaker

6. If ready, SEL-751 sends CLOSE command to MV Breaker controller
