3.1 Functional Description
The PowerView3 is used to visualize and record engine operating data. The data can be provided
by the following MOTORTECH devices that are connected via a CAN bus:
– Ignition controller MIC3, MIC3+, MIC4, MIC4+, MIC5, MIC5+
– Detonation controller DetCon2, DetCon16, DetCon20
– Temperature module TempScan20
Several settings of the ignition controllers can be changed via the PowerView3. The TempScan20
temperature module is fully configurable via the PowerView3. If warnings and errors occur in the
DetCon detonation controller or the TempScan temperature module, two binary outputs can be
switched at the PowerView3. A slot for SD cards and a USB port permit saving recorded data on a
storage device.
The PowerView3 functions as NMT master in the CANopen
®
network. Simultaneously, the
PowerView3 can integrate a maximum of one ignition controller, one detonation controller and
three temperature modules. In addition, you can monitor the connection status of up to three
devices which are not directly supported by the PowerView3. These devices are then started
automatically during PowerView3 start-up.
3.2
Applications
The PowerView3 must only be operated in a control cabinet and with the devices specified for
this purpose. The PowerView3 does not support safety-critical applications.
Any use other than the one described in the operating manual shall be considered improper use
and will result in the voiding of all warranties.
3.3 Use in Potentially Explosive Atmospheres
The PowerView3 is certified by the CSA for use in a Class I, Division 2, Groups C and D, T4
hazardous location in the USA and Canada. For this, you must adhere to the information of the
CSA certificate 2173514 (see section
Certifications on page 15).
