Safety

Occupant safety

The driver's chest should be as far away
from the middle of the driver's front air-
bag cover as possible. The driver's arms
should be slightly bent when holding the
steering wheel.

Position the passenger seat as far back
as possible.

앫

Vehicle occupants must always wear
their seat belt correctly (

page 55).

Do not lean forward (e.g. over the cover
of the driver's front airbag), in particular
while the vehicle is in motion.

앫

Do not rest your feet on the dashboard.

앫

Only hold the steering wheel by the out-
side of the rim. This allows the airbag to
deploy unhindered. You could be injured
if the airbag deploys and you are holding
the inside of the steering wheel.

앫

Make sure that there are no other per-
sons, animals or objects between the
vehicle occupants and the deployment
range of the airbags.

Because of the high speed at which airbags
have to deploy, it is not possible to rule out
entirely the risk of injuries caused by an in-
flating airbag.

Risk of injury

Correct operation of the airbags can only be
guaranteed if:

the padded boss of the steering wheel
or the passenger airbag cover are not
covered and no badges or sticker are
stuck on them

앫

the restraint system components, in-
cluding their wiring, have not been mod-
ified
