Practical advice
Towing
Comply with national regulations when
towing.
Having the vehicle carried away on a trans-
porter or trailer is preferable to having it
towed. If it is necessary to tow the vehicle,
we recommend the use of a rigid towing
bar.
Risk of accident
G
Tow the vehicle using a rigid towing bar if:
앫
the engine is not running
앫
the SBC
TM
brake system is malfunction-
ing
앫
there is a malfunction in the power sup-
ply or the vehicle's electrical system
If the engine is not running, there is no pow-
er assistance for the steering. Considerably
greater force will then be required for steer-
ing.
The SBC
TM
brake system requires electrical
power. In the event of malfunctions in the
power supply or the vehicle’s electrical sys-
tem, the SBC
TM
brake system switches to
emergency mode.
Greater braking force will then be required
and the pedal travel is longer. The stopping
distance will be increased. If necessary, de-
press the brake pedal with maximum force.
The vehicle is braked when SBC Hold/
SBC Stop is activated. For this reason, deac-
tivate SBC Hold/SBC Stop if the vehicle is
to be towed.
!
Do not tow the vehicle further than 30 miles
(50 km). Do not exceed the maximum speed of
30 mph (50 km/h). Doing so could damage the
transmission.
i
Deactivate the automatic locking function
when towing (
컄
page 139). You could otherwise
become locked out when pushing or towing the
vehicle.
