Operation

Winter driving

Snow chains

For safety reasons, Mercedes-Benz
recommends that you only use snow
chains which have been approved for
Mercedes-Benz vehicles.

If you are intending to fit snow chains,
please bear the following points in mind:

Snow chains cannot be fitted on all
wheel/tyre combinations
(

Only ever fit snow chains to both rear
wheels. Comply with the manufactur-
er's installation instructions.

Do not exceed the maximum permissible
speed of 30 mph (50 km/h). Remove the
snow chains as soon as possible if you are
no longer driving on snow-covered roads.

If snow chains are fitted on the front wheels,

they may come into contact with the bodywork
or axle components while the vehicle is being
driven. As a result, the tyre or the vehicle could
be damaged.

You may wish to deactivate ESP

®

when pull-

ing away on snow chains (

page 86). This way

you can allow the wheels to spin in a controlled
manner, achieving an increased driving force
(cutting action).
