and the vehicle decelerates or acceler-

in the event of a severe frontal impact
if the vehicle decelerates rapidly in a

stages of the collision
If the belt tensioners are triggered, you will
hear a bang that is principally harmless to
your hearing. A small amount of dust may
also be released. The

lights up.

Risk of injury
G
If the belt tensioners have been triggered,
have them replaced at a qualified specialist
workshop which has the necessary special-
ist knowledge and tools for the work re-
quired. Mercedes-Benz recommends that
you have such work carried out at an
SLR Service Centre. In particular, work rele-
vant to safety or on safety-related systems
must be carried out at a qualified specialist
workshop.
Comply with safety regulations when dis-
posing of belt tensioners. Any SLR Service
Centre can provide details of these regula-
tions.
Risk of injury
G
To reduce the risk of severe or even fatal in-
juries in the event of an accident or similar
situation with a high rate of deceleration,
e.g. injuries caused by an airbag inflating
within milliseconds or sudden braking, ob-
serve the following points:
앫
All vehicle occupants must select a seat
position that allows the seat belt to be
worn correctly and that is as far away
from the front airbags as possible.
The driver's seat position must allow the
driver to drive the vehicle safely. The dis-
tance from the driver's seat to the ped-
als must be such that the driver can fully
depress the pedals.
