Driving safety systems

Traction control system

The traction control system is an integral
part of ESP

®

.

The traction control system brakes the
drive wheels individually when the wheels
are spinning. This means that you can pull
away or accelerate on slippery surfaces,
e.g. if the road surface on one side of the
vehicle is slippery.

Traction control remains active even if you
deactivate ESP

®

is activated automatically as soon as

the engine is running.

It may be best to deactivate ESP

in the

following situations:

when pulling away, if snow chains are
being used

in deep snow

on sand or gravel

The ignition must be switched off if the park-

ing brake is being tested using a dynamometer.

Otherwise, application of the brakes by ESP

®

would destroy the braking system on the rear
axle.
